The Archives of Case Reports (ACR) invites submissions of original case reports, clinical studies, and case series that contribute to the understanding of rare or novel conditions, diagnostic methods, and treatment outcomes in various medical fields. Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts that highlight unique or underreported medical cases.

Types of Manuscripts

We accept the following types of manuscripts:

  • Case Reports: Detailed descriptions of unique, rare, or complex clinical cases, focusing on diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes.
  • Case Series: A collection of related case reports, providing insight into clinical trends, patterns, or rare conditions.
  • Mini-Reviews: Concise reviews summarizing recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of specific conditions based on case studies.
  • Letters to the Editor: Short communications related to previously published articles or urgent medical concerns, addressing relevant issues or clinical debates.

Manuscript Submission Process

Authors must follow the guidelines below for submitting manuscripts:

  • Manuscript Format: Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format. PDF submissions will not be accepted at the initial submission stage.
  • Title Page: Include a title page with the manuscript, containing the title of the article, the names and affiliations of all authors, and the contact details of the corresponding author.
  • Abstract: Provide a structured abstract (150-250 words) that summarizes the case, diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes, avoiding figures and references.
  • Keywords: List 3-5 keywords that describe the main topics of the case report.
  • Introduction: Briefly introduce the background and context of the case, including a literature review where appropriate.
  • Case Presentation: Provide a detailed description of the case, including relevant medical history, clinical features, investigations, and results.
  • Discussion: Discuss the clinical significance of the case, comparing it with previous reports in the literature. Include the implications for diagnosis, treatment, and patient management.
  • References: Cite references in National Library of Medicine (NLM) style. All references should be numbered sequentially and cited in the text using parentheses.

Figures and Tables

Figures and tables should be included in the manuscript file itself, not separately. Ensure figures and tables are clear and relevant to the case. Each table or figure should be numbered in order and cited in the text. Provide figure legends and table captions below the respective figures and tables.

  • Figures: Figures should be submitted in high-quality formats (JPEG, PNG, or TIFF), with a resolution of 300 DPI for clarity.
  • Tables: Tables should be numbered consecutively and include a clear and concise title.

Ethical Approval and Consent

For studies involving human subjects, authors must obtain approval from an ethics committee or an equivalent body, and the approval statement should be included in the manuscript. For case reports, informed consent must be obtained from the patient or their guardian, and this should be clearly stated in the manuscript.

Plagiarism Check

All manuscripts will be checked for plagiarism using advanced plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarized content will be rejected. Authors should ensure that the manuscript is original and that all sources of information are appropriately cited.

Manuscript Review and Acceptance

Upon submission, the manuscript will undergo peer review by two independent reviewers. Authors may be required to revise the manuscript based on the feedback provided by the reviewers. The final decision regarding the acceptance of the manuscript lies with the editorial board.
